Digital Estate File

  • covers the preparation of estates.
  • covers the settlement of (digital) estates from start to distribution.
  • informs surviving relatives about the settlement from start to distribution.

The careful arrangement of an estate begins before death. The settlement of an estate (in Dutch: ‘executele’) involves a great deal of administrative, legal and tax-related work. That is precisely why preparation is so important. During your lifetime, you can already give direction to the future settlement of your estate. This provides peace of mind and clarity for your surviving relatives.

An estate may, for example, have a negative balance because of debts. If heirs act without due care after someone has passed away, for instance by clearing the property, they may become personally liable for the estate’s debts. Unfortunately, this is happening more and more often. As a certified executor-liquidator, I can deal directly with the court on behalf of the estate and thereby prevent situations of this kind.

In addition, arranging and settling your digital estate is important from both a practical and an emotional point of view. As a certified executor-liquidator, I would be pleased to assist you with this.

During your lifetime and after a life event, you can already record a great deal, for example in a will (last will and testament) or a codicil. If you make no arrangements, in principle only the statutory rules apply, which may delay the settlement of an estate. In a will, you can set out your personal wishes, such as the appointment of the executor, so that your wishes are carried out as you intend.
